Baseball Canada's Executive Director Jim Baba to retire at end of season

The Baseball Canada executive director currently chairs the WBSC Baseball Tournament Commission.

Baseball Canada has announced that Executive Director Jim Baba will retire at the end of the year.

Baba coached Saskatchewan to a silver medal at the Canada Games 1989. The success there led him to join the Canadian National Team coaching staff for the 1991 Pan American Games. He was named the head coach in 1993 and became Baseball Canada's Executive Director in 2000, where he served the last 21 years.

“You think back and say, ‘Oh, boy — I’ve had a special time,’ ” Baba said after the announcement.

He added: "I’ll be involved in the game somehow. But it’s time for a change at the top with Baseball Canada. I’ve been there a long time, and maybe it’s time for some new views."

Baba is currently chairing the WBSC Baseball Tournament Commission.
