BOLOGNA, Italy -- Gianni Falchi Baseball Stadium in Bologna was the first sports venue in Italy to open to spectators. The daily Il Resto del Carlino reported that around 150 fans watched Fortitudo Bologna and San Marino of the Italian Baseball League play on Saturday, 8 August.

Fans were allowed to enter the stadium only if wearing a face mask. A Fortitudo Bologna official used a thermo-scanner to measure the body temperature of each individual.

The Emilia-Romagna Region was the first in Italy to allow fans to attend public sport events. The stadium-occupancy limit, implemented by Governor Stefano Bonaccini, has been set at a maximum of 1,000 spectators for outdoor events and 200 spectators for indoor events.
