Europe: Lithuanian baseball season to open in June, Italian league pushed back to July

Lithuania will start the season on 13 June, while Italy has pushed back their Opening Day to 10 July.

European baseball is getting back to action as countries ease COVID-19 pandemic lockdown measures.

The National League of Lithuania is opening its 2020 season on Saturday, 13 June, with a match between Utenos Titanai and BK Vilnius.

The Board of Directors of the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS) decided to postpone the opening day -- for both baseball and softball -- to Friday, 10 July.

FIBS triggered an option included in the protocol proposed by the Board to the clubs when it was decided to postpone the start of the season in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

The Czech ExtraLiga was the first baseball championship to open in Europe.
