WBSC makes 150 school kids of the Australian Gold Coast familiar with Baseball5
Instructors, led by certified continental expert Lisa Norrie, took the field to help 150 school kids in the age range 8-12 get a feel of what Baseball5 is all about. It turned out to be one full hour of excitement and fun
After showcasing Baseball5 during the Gold Coast Sports Festival, WBSC and Baseball Australia introduced the new urban version of baseball-softball to local schools.
About 150 boys and girls in the age range 8-12 and representing four different schools of the Gold Coast, made the Baseball5 field. The instructors tried to give everybody the chance to get a feel of what Baseball5 is all about.
It turned out to be a full hour of excitement and fun, even if most of the students didn’t have a Baseball5 background.
“It was good seeing the kids get involved,” said Scott Hillier, Participation Programs Manager and ABL Operations, Baseball Australia “This confirmed the accessibility of Baseball5.”
Matthew Sundstrom, General Manager Participation, Baseball Australia, added: “Since it can be played everywhere, Baseball5 can really work in Australia’s environment. We have a lot of expectations.”
Lisa Norrie coordinated Baseball5 operations and instruction of the Gold Coast school kids. She is a certified Continental Expert since she participated in the WBSC Workshop held in La Havana, Cuba, in late March.
“The enthusiasm we felt amongst these kids was absolutely fantastic,” commented Norrie.
