Boys and girls from Beni Suef, a mostly rural governorate located in the center of Egypt, participated in a tournament of baseball/softball's five-on-five urban discipline.

The Egyptian Baseball & Softball Federation (EBSF) recently hosted its first-ever Egyptian Rural Development Baseball5 Championship, a four-day programme offering coursework and a tournament. The programme reached around 30 coaches and umpires, while giving young boys and girls in the region a chance to play the new game.

The Baseball5 initiative, jointly coordinated by the EBSF and the Directorate of Youth and Sports in Beni Suef, was staged under a nationwide programme for the development of the Egyptian countryside villages called “A Decent Life”, launched by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Mixed teams from Baba Center and Nasser Center participated in the event, held at the Mubarak Club.
