The 60th edition of the Cuban Serie Nacional de Beisbol, one of the most iconic baseball leagues in the world, opened this past weekend with eight two-game series. Camagüey, Industriales and Santiago de Cuba all swept their respective series and sit on top of the standings with a 2-0 record.
Toros de Camagüey swept the reigning national champions Cocodrilos de Matanzas at Victoria de Girón stadium. On Saturday, Camagüey won big, 15-8, and on Sunday, the team from Agramonte completed the sweep with a 5-2 victory. Both games were live-streamed and available to watch for free via WBSC's gametime.sport YouTube Channel.
The Industriales also jumped out of the blocks, sweeping their series in Guantánamo, with 10-4 and 12-4 wins.
Santiago de Cuba is opening their season with a 10-game homestand, and took advantage of it in the first weekend, claiming two close games, 7-6 and 5-4, against the Piratas de Isla de la Juventud.
Starting today, GameTime.Sport will live-stream the three-game series between Sancti Spiritus and Villa Clara from 15-17 September. The games will be played at Jose Antonio Huelga stadium at 2 p.m. local time (8 p.m. CEST time).
