CBS Rivas softball club wins Spanish Queen's Cup

The team from Madrid claimed two Spanish softball titles in 2020.

CBS Rivas completed a perfect season in Spanish softball. Earlier this month Rivas went unbeaten to claim the 2020 Spanish Softball Honour Division, and last weekend swept the Copa de la Reina (Queen’s Cup) with three overwhelming wins to grab the second title of the season.

The Copa de la Reina competition is a double elimination tournament played by the top four finishers in the Honour Division season. This year CBS Rivas, CB Viladecans, CBS Sant Boi and Dridma Rivas competed for the title in Viladecans.

CBS Rivas defeated CBS Sant Boi 11-1 to open the tournament and then beat CB Vildecans 10-0 in the semifinal. The final lasted only four innings, with a 14-0 shutout against CB Viladecans. Italian pitcher Stella Turazzi threw the second no-hitter of the weekend to lead her team to the trophy. Venezuelan Yaicey Sojo was named the MVP of the cup.

CBS Rivas and CB Viladecans also played the final series of the 2020 Spanish Softball Honour Division.
