The Chinese Softball Association (CSA) has signed a cooperation agreement with Jiangsu Provincial Sports Bureau, Jiangsu Provincial Education Department and Nanjing Tech University to launch the Chinese Softball College.
According to the national governing body, the purpose of the college, signed into being on 19 December, is to carry out baseball and softball scientific research and social service, and promote the development of a Chinese softball career, integrating education and sport.
The Chinese Softball College will include talent cultivation, training and competition, scientific research and social service while fostering foreign exchange and cultural transmission. In the future, it will gather resources to improve competitive ability and scientific research, continue to expand softball’s social value and provide intellectual support and cultural accumulation for the development of softball in China.
The Chinese Softball College will recruit outstanding softball players and award bachelor's or master's degrees to graduates. It also plans to build Chinese softball technology research and development service center, Chinese softball think-tank platform and a Chinese softball museum.
In 2003, Nanijng Tech University inaugurated its softball stadium hosting the 2003 Junior Women’s Softball World Championship, won by Japan.
