Chinese Taipei, Mexico advance to Super Round

Chinese Taipei secured a spot in the Super Round with a 5-inning victory over Netherlands. Mexico secured second place in Group C and made the Super Round

Chinese Taipei secured a spot in the Super Round with a 5-inning victory over Netherlands, 9-0, with a stellar performance by Ching-Yu Chen who pitched a no-hitter for the winner. The Asian lineup scored multiple runs in all four offensive opportunities.

Chinese Taipei opened the game with four consecutive hits, including an RBI double by An-Hsin Chen and an RBI single by Chia-Hsuan Lin, to take a 2-0 early lead. The first out of the game came with an accurate assistance by left fielder Yindi Beekveldt to retire Chen at home plate.

One inning later the Asian team incremented their lead with three more runs. Yu-Hsin and Chia-Yun Chang bunted for single to open the inning and scored on a 2-RBI single by An-Hsin Chen.

In the bottom of the third Ting-En Chiang plated Yu-Hsin Wu with a single, and then An-Hsin Chen collected her fourth RBI of the game, with a grounder to the pitcher. The final two runs of the game came in on a defensive error.

Ching-Yu Chen fanned 3 in five innings, allowing only one runner on a base on balls.

Chinese Taipei advanced to Super Round and will play For the Title of World Champion.

Mexico secured second place in Group C and made the Super Round with a 12-0 win against Botswana. Yeraldine Carrion and Yanina Treviño combined for a four-inning perfect game, striking out 9 of the 12 hitters they faced.

Madelyn Ruffin and Kayla Inzunza collected 3 RBIs each.
