Panama U-18 National Baseball Championship: Coclé captures title

Baseball is the national sport of the central american country, with friends, family and fans typically flooding the stadium to watch the national youth championship.

Panama's U-18 national champions have been crowned. Coclés Leña Roja (Red Firewood) defeated Herrera, 7-2, on home soil at José Antonio Remón Cantera Stadium in Aguadulce in the seventh game to win the final series of Panama's LII National Youth Baseball Championship.

Coclé's starting pitcher Israel Guerrero earned the win, going eight innings and allowing just two runs on three hits, while striking out four.

The lineup took the lead, scoring three in the first inning against starter Alexis Bernal. Coclé went on to combine for 11 hits on the night. Joaquin Gamba, Esmith Pineda and Roderick Lezcano has all two hits.

Coclé was awarded the Caja de Ahorros Cup. It's the third Panamanian Youth Baseball Championship in the history of the franchise, after titles at the 1962 inaugural edition and in 2018.
