Cuba warms up for Premier12

The National Team managed by Miguel Borroto had four wins and a tie during a successful stay in Chinese Taipei and will then head to Seoul

Cuba enjoyed a successful preparation for the WBSC Premier12 in Chinese Taipei, recording four victories and a tie.

Cuba began with two wins, 7-5 and 4-1, against the Amateur Chinese Taipei National Team, then went on to defeat the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) expansion team Wei Chun Dragons 6-1. In the fourth tune-up game, Cuba defeated 2-1 the Chinatrust Brothers, the runner-up of the CPBL final series.

Cuba tied (2-2) the fifth warm-up game against Chinese Taipei.
"I saw the right approach," commented Miguel Borroto, the manager.
The game attracted over 8,000 spectators at the Taichung Intercontinental Stadium.

Cuba is currently on the field for a sixth and final tune-up game.

Cuba's starting line-up should include veteran shortstop Erisbel Arruebarruena and César Prieto as the middle infielders, Alexander Ayal at third and William Savedra at first in the infield. Roel Santos is a likely starter at center field, with slugger Frederich Cepeda and Yelkis Guibert at the corners. Yosvani Alarcon will probably be the starting catcher and Yordanis Samon appears as the best option as the DH.

Cuba will compete in group C and will debut at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul against Canada on Wednesday, 6 November.
