After two days of competition in the Pan Am Qualifier for WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2018, the Dominican Republic remains undefeated at the top of the standings with a 2-0 record. Mexico and Puerto Rico follow in the second place with 1-1, while Argentina closes the standings with two loses.

To avoid the rain, organisers move Saturday’s games to the Dbacks complex in Boca Chica.

Puerto Rico topped Mexico, 4-2 in rain-delayed game that started Friday night.

Dominican Republic earned its second victory of the tournament, defeating its long-time Caribbean rival Puerto Rico, 11-7, to move one step closer of the qualification to the World Cup.

Mexico recovered from the early loss and defeated Argentina by 22-3, to remain in the run for the qualification. It was the first win in history for the Mexican Women’s National Baseball Team.

On Sunday, Mexico will face Dominican Republic, while Puerto Rico will close the tournament against Argentina.

The top two teams in the final standings will take the remaining two spots and compete for the world title in the VIII WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2018, which will be held from 22-31 August at the USSSA Space Coast Complex in Viera, Florida.
