The Dominican Republic wins the first Baseball Cup of the Caribbean

The Dominican Republic was out of reach for each of the other five teams competing in the first edition of the tournament. The Dominicans won, 8-4, the semi final against the US Virgin Islands and outscored, 12-1, Curaçao in the Championship game

The Dominican Republic outscored, 12-1, Curaçao in the final and won the first edition of the Baseball Cup of the Caribbean.

The Dominicans cruised undefeated to the medal round of the six-team tournament and defeated the US Virgin Islands, 8-4 in the semi final.

Curaçao earned the right to challenge the Dominican Republic in the Championship game with a clear, 12-2, win against Aruba in the other semi final.

The US Virgin Islands won the bronze medal game, 9-5, against Aruba and finished third.

Peru won the consolation game, 5-2, against Haiti and finished fifth.

The first Baseball Cup of the Caribbean (Copa del Caribe de Beisbol) was sanctioned by WBSC.
