Dutch National Team veteran/Olympian Michiel Van Kampen starts coaching career in US pro baseball

Van Kampen will serve as the pitching coach of the Boise Hawks of the Pioneer League under manager Gary Van Tol.

Michiel Van Kampen, who was one of the top relievers for the Dutch Baseball National Team from 1999 to 2010, will be part of the coaching staff of the Boise Hawks for the 2021 season.

Van Kampen competed for the Netherlands in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also played in six CEB European Baseball Championships, four WBSC (IBAF) Baseball World Cups, three IBAF Intercontinental Cups and two World Baseball Classics.

He will serve as the pitching coach under manager Gary Van Tol, together with hitting coach Travis Buck, a former MLB player who represented the United States at the FISU University World Cup 2004.

The Hawks will compete in the Pioneer League, an independent league that was granted status as a Major League Baseball (MLB) Partner League.
