Eagles beat Wasps in seven games to claim 2020 Taiwan Professional Women’s Softball League title

Fox Sports Taiwan live-streamed all games of the championship series. It was the third title in Eagles history.

The Kananan Eagles defeated the New Century Wasps, 6-1, in game seven of the Taiwan Professional Women’s Softball League championship series, to claim the third league title in the team’s history. The Eagles recovered from a three games to two deficit in the series to grab their first championship since 2017.

With the series tied at two games each, The Eagles and Wasps split a double-header on Saturday to extend the series to Game 7. The Wasps took Game 5 with a 7-3 victory in the morning, but the Eagles tied the series again with a convincing 12-6 win, sending the series to a winner-take-all grand finale on Sunday.

The Wasps took the lead in the top of the first inning but couldn’t hold it, as the Eagles unleashed a 13-hit attack to get the decisive win. The champions used a pair of three-run innings in the first and fourth frames to take the final game of the season.

The five-team TPWSL season, the first professional softball league in the world to open its 2020 campaign, came to an end after seven months, with an 80-game regular season and two playoffs series.
