El Salvador won three consecutive games on Sunday to claim the Women’s Softball Central American Championship 2019 in Guatemala City. In the final game, El Salvador defeated hosts Guatemala, 2-1, to clinch the title.

A total of six teams played in the event, held at Carlos Cano Gómez and Carlos Larrañaga diamonds in the Guatemalan capital: Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala A, Guatemala B, Nicaragua and Panama. Guatemala B played as guest, so their results didn't count for the standings.

El Salvador and Panama faced off in the first playoff match, in a win or go home game. Panama had the lead in the seventh inning, 3-2, but a grand slam off the bat of Sonia Viscarra in the seventh inning gave El Salvador the win.

In the first semifinal game, Guatemala beat Nicaragua 8-7, in a very emotive game, setting up the second semifinal between Nicaragua and El Salvador. And the Salvadoran squad defeated Nicaragua, 4-2, to advance to the final game.

In the decisive game, El Salvador scored their runs in the second and third episode, while Guatemala scored their only run in the bottom of the fourth.
