European softball: Austria, Poland, Russia crown national champions

Three European nations crowned their 2020 softball champions over the weekend. Witches Linz (Austria), Panthers Wroclaw (Poland) and RusStar (Russia) were this season's top softball teams in their respective countries.

Three European nations -- Austria, Poland and Russia -- crowned their 2020 softball champions over the weekend, as the sport is being celebrated across the continent.

Witches Linz won the 2020 Austrian Softball League championship, with an 8-3 victory over the Vienna Wanderers. The Crazy Chicklets Wr. Neustadt took the bronze medal, defeating the Sharx, 10-0.

The four-team Polish Softball League saw the Panthers Wroclaw become national champions, finishing the season on top of the standings with a 10-2 record. Gepardy Zory and Stal Kutno closed the season in second- and third-place, respectively.  

In Russia, RusStar claimed the national softball title, with a 2-1 extra-inning victory over Carrousel. In the semi-finals, RusStar needed nine innings to get past Muscovy, 4-1. Muscovy bounced back to earn the bronze medal. Eight teams participated in the national tournament.
