Fiji Islands Baseball and Softball Association elects new Executive Board

Fiji's new leadership features Takao Mochida as president and Tavo Sorovakatini as vice president for baseball, while former player Mataca Coalala is the new vice president of softball.

The Fiji Islands Baseball & Softball Association (FIBSA) recently elected its Executive Board, with President Takao Mochida, Baseball Vice President Tavo Sorovakatini, Secretary-General Inoke Niubavalu, and Treasurer Shameet Kumar. Former softball player Mataca Coalala is Fiji's new Softball Vice President.

The main goals of the elected Executive Board will be revitalizing women's participation in softball and strengthening the National Teams programme.

FIBSA Executive Board adopted a revised Constitution and implemented a development plan that runs into 2027. The building of a field dedicated to baseball and softball is at the centre of the plan.

Fiji is currently ranked 72nd in the WBSC Baseball World Rankings and is unranked is softball.
