First-ever Baseball5 tournament held in Kosovo

The first ever Baseball5 tournament in Kosovo was held on 7 April 2019. The urban baseball discipline succeeded in gathering 6 teams from Kosovo at the tournament and was held in the city square of Peja.

The first ever Baseball5 tournament in Kosovo was held on 7 April 2019. The urban baseball discipline succeeded in gathering 6 teams from Kosovo at the tournament and was held in the city square of Peja. The event was supported by numerous sponsors.

Hosting over 40 players and 15 organizing staff, the tournament displayed great success in engaging the audience. The participating schools and clubs including Shkolla Model “Qamil Batalli” – Prishtinë; Gjimnazi “Hajdar Dushi” – Gjakovë, Faq. Zyrt; SHFMU Xhemajl Kada – Pejë; and KBS Prishtina.

Supported by the WBSC – World Baseball and Softball Confederation, Baseball5 is aimed at promoting sport and inclusion of all ages and genders in baseball and softball. As part of the strategy to spread Baseball5 around the world, the WBSC organized a 3-day certification workshop in La Havana, Cuba, aimed to develop continental experts for the new urban discipline.

Nowadays, the WBSC is hosting the first-ever Baseball5 international competition, the Baseball5 Americas Open, in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, with five nations competing: Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.
