The French Baseball and Softball Federation (FFBS) opened Camp in Montigny le Bretonneux, near Paris, with the Women’s Baseball National Team. France will host next Summer the first European Championship.

A total 40 women players attended Camp.
Lahcène Benhamida, who is in charge of coaches development for FFBS, explained: “Most of them play regularly baseball, but we also had softball players.”

Benhamida was part of a coaching staff led by André Lachance (Baseball Canada and a member of WBSC Women’s Baseball Commission). Also Stephen Lesfargues (FFBS), Patricia Landry (Baseball Canada) and Fred Pirotais (Mantes Baseball Club) were part of the staff.

Players on the field went through physical and technical tests. This included running, throwing from a mound, agility, fielding and hitting drills.
The day ended with a Baseball5 tournament played indoors.

“It was a lot of fun,” commented Benhamida “Players were excited and motivated.”

Montigny le Bretonneux is home to the Cougars, the first baseball team of French standout Melissa Mayeux.
