The French Baseball Softball Federation (FFBS) has named Lahcène Benhamida as the new manager of the Women's Baseball National Team. Benhamida succeeds André Lachance, a Canadian who is a member of the WBSC Women's Baseball Commission, who led France to the first-ever Women's European title in August.

Born April 1971, Benhamida enjoyed a long career in the French top league as an infielder for the Barracudas Montpellier. He represented France internationally from 1993 to 2008. He wore 12 as his uniform number to honour the MLB great Roberto Alomar, his favourite player. Benhamida is also in charge of FFBS coaches development.

Benhamida will lead France to the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup in September 2020 in Mexico. The Blues will get together for physical and technical tests on 26 January in Montpellier with more tests planned for early February in Rouen before the first training camp from 8 to 11 February in Montigny le Bretonneux.
