Funds raised for Baseball Stadium in Vietnam

Today (April 4, 2012), Hana Bank has made an agreement with the Baseball Federation of Asia(BFA) and Vietnam to provide a sum of about US$ 180,000 in order to construct a baseball stadium in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam.

Mr. Kim, Jongjun, president & CEO of Hana Bank provided funds in person to Mr. Dang Quok Binh, Second Secretary of Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Korea at the headquarter of Hana bank in Seoul, Korea. Mr. Lee, Sanghyun, secretary general and Mr. Heo, Kooyoun, chairman of technical committee of Baseball Federation of Asia(BFA) participated in this event.

The Baseball Stadium to be built in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam will be named “Hana Bank Baseball Park” and the Vietnam national baseball team and various levels of baseball teams will use this stadium after the construction.

Vietnam sent its national baseball team to the South East Asian Games(SEA Games) which was held in Indonesia last year. During the SEA Games, Vietnam national baseball team celebrated its first victory in an international tournament and this victory made Vietnamese got interested in baseball. Meanwhile, the Vietnam government will designate baseball as a promotional sport which is a set of government policy.

Mr. Lee, secretary general of BFA mentioned that he expects this construction of baseball stadium in Vietnam will lead more companies and organizations to join the contribution of establishment of baseball infrastructure in Asia as well as all around world.
