GameTime Classics - Episode 12: Mexico, Canada battle to qualify for the Tokyo Olympic softball competition

Dallas Escobedo took the ball for Mexico, while Sara Groenewegen started the game for the host team, setting up an amazing pitching duel.
The second to last day of the WBSC Softball Americas Olympic Qualifier last year saw an explosive matchup between the top two teams in the tournament, with an Olympic spot on the line. Canada and Mexico, still undefeated at that moment, played at Softball City in Surrey, Canada, on 31 August 2019; the winner would earn the first of two Tokyo 2020 Olympic spots on offer at the Americas qualifier.
Dallas Escobedo took the ball for Mexico, while Sara Groenewegen started the game for the host team, setting up an amazing pitching duel.
At the end of the tournament, both teams clinched the two Olympic spots on offer, so Mexico and Canada will meet each other again in Tokyo, when softball makes its historic return to the Olympics in 2021.
