GameTime Classics | Episode 35: Superpowers Japan, USA collide at WBSC Premier12 2019
NPB submariner Rei Takahashi and MLB top prospect Penn Murfee were the first two of 12 pitchers that would take the mound in this exciting head-to-head battle between the top two teams ranked teams in the world.
On 11 November 2019, the top two teams in the WBSC Baseball World Rankings, No. 1 Japan and No. 2 USA, took the field at the Tokyo Dome for a Super Round game of the WBSC Premier12 2019. USA entered the contest 0-2 in the Super Round, while Japan was a perfect 2-0.
Submariner Rei Takahashi took the mound for Japan, as Taiwanese home plate umpire Chi Hua-Wen called playball. USA countered with Penn Murfee.
The two starters were the first of 12 total pitchers that would enter the exciting game.
