Both teams had played five days before in the opening round, with a 5-0 win for Australia. Aussie’s ace Adam Folkard fanned 15 in a complete game effort, while Joan Colombo was charged with the loss.
A pair of lefties took the ball in the semi finals. Andrew Kirkpatrick was the chosen one for Australia, while Venezuelan change-up master Eric Urbaneja entered the circle for the South Americans.
