Outfielder Noah Williamson, who will turn 21 on 23 August, became the first-ever member of the Swiss National Team to be selected in the Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft.

Williamson, who plays for Everett Community College in the state of Washington, was picked in the 19th round by the Miami Marlins.

Williamson competed in the Swiss top league (NLA, National Liga A) for the Zurich Challengers in 2019. He hit four home runs and had 18 runs batted in during the regular season.

A dual citizen, Williamson represented Switzerland internationally. He played five games for fourth-place Switzerland in the qualifier to the European Championship 2019, going 8-for-19, with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs.
