Global expansion: First-ever Cuban Baseball5 National Tournament held in Camaguey

On Wednesday the first-ever Cuban Baseball5 National Tournament came to an end, with La Habana claiming the title over host Camaguey. The tournament was held at Universidad de Camaguey Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz.

Baseball5 continues spreading around the globe. On Wednesday the first-ever Cuban Baseball5 National Tournament came to an end, with La Habana claiming the title over host Camaguey by a score of 13-3, in three innings. The tournament was held at Universidad de Camaguey Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz.

The four-team, two-days event started on Tuesday with the round robin. La Habana finished in first place, unbeaten, with three victories. Second place was Camaguey (2-1), who stunned Artemisa (1-2) with a walk off victory, 11-10, to advance to the final. Fourth place was Holguin (0-3).

Orlando Amador Molina was named MVP of the tournament. He led the stats in average (.500), hits (9) and runs scored (6), and had a terrific final game, with three hits and five runs scored.

Artemisa finished third, after a 5-4 win over Holguin, in a very contested match.

Baseball5 is the new WBSC urban/street discipline. A little over a year since its official presentation, Baseball5 has spread quickly around the globe, with multiple tournaments, events and clinics hosted in the five Olympic continents.
