Baseball is one of the top-gross revenue sports in the world, according to a report by Fact.MR, a Dublin, Ireland-based market research firm.
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) estimates the total baseball and softball market to gross US$ 15-20 billion dollars annually.
The FACT.MR report also forecasts an annual growth rate of 2.3% in the baseball glove market for the period of 2017-2022. The report also cited first-baseman gloves as one of the most lucrative products in the baseball industry.
By the end of 2022, the report forecasts over US$ 2 billion worth metal cleat baseball shoes to be sold across the globe, with Americas territories leading the market.
In terms of total global market potential, there are currently 75 countries and territories featured in the WBSC Baseball World Rankings Presented By ENEOS.
WBSC expects numbers and popularity to continue to grow leading to 2020 and through the next decade, citing such factors as baseball and softball’s return to the Olympic Programme in 2020 and the emergence of National Team international competitions, which expose the sport to global audiences.
