Global Sport: Softball season set to open in Czech Republic

The Men's Extraleague has a record-setting 11 teams this year, while the Women's Extraleague will feature 8 squads.

Softball season in the Czech Republic will start this Saturday with the opening day of the Men’s Extraleague. The Women's Extraleague will begin a week later on June 5th.

The Czech Men's Extraleague has a record 11 teams for the 2021 season. Men's regular-season play will last until mid-August, while the super round will run to end of September. Playoffs will take place throughout October. The defending champions are the Hippos Havlíčkův Brod and Joudrs Prague.

The Czech Women's Extraleague will feature eight squads, with the regular season running until 5 September and the play-offs until mid-October.

The two domestic leagues will be the prelude to the European Men's Softball Championship, the European youth softball championships and the Men's Super Cup, which all take place in the Czech Republic this summer.
