Haiti's national governing body plans to field a team for the next World Baseball Classic Qualifier.

The Haiti Baseball and Softball Association has named Lino Rivera as the new manager of country's national baseball team. The governing body plans to field a team for the next World Baseball Classic Qualifier.

Born in December 1966 in Puerto Rico, Rivera has managed teams to championship titles in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.

Rivera was a right-handed pitcher in his playing days. He made his professional debut in 1985. He played in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) until 1995, then he moved to the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL), where he made the All-Star game in 1998. He then played in the Mexican Baseball League (LMB).

His managing career began in Mexico. He has so far celebrated six championship titles.

He famously shared his emotions after winning the 2017-2018 Dominican Winter League, dedicating the title to the memory of his sister.
