Haylie McCleney named MVP as The World Games All-World Team revealed

The MVP and local outfielder hit .553 with 4 runs and 5 RBI as USA’s everyday leadoff hitter.

Haylie McCleney was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of The World Games 2022 softball competition, which concluded on Wednesday night at Hoover Met Stadium. The local outfielder hit .553 with 4 runs and 5 RBI as USA’s everyday leadoff hitter.

The WBSC also revealed the All-World Team of the event following the tournament's closing ceremony.

Miu Goto (JPN) and Ally Carda (USA), the two pitchers that closed the Gold Medal Game for Japan and USA, were named respective left-handed and right-handed pitchers of the tournament, while USA’s Dejah Mulipola was the named the catcher of the tournament.

Minori Naito (JPN) was named to the All-World Team at first base, Feng-Chen Lin (TPE) at second base, while Hsuan Liu (TPE) and Kanna Kudo (JPN) completed the infield at third base and shortstop.

The All-World outfield features Jade Wall (AUS), McCleney (USA) and Ayana Nakagawa (JPN). 

The All-World designated player is the Japanese two-way player Yamato Fujita.
