The Hong Kong Baseball Association hosted from 13 to 16 December the Hong Kong Baseball Open. The event was sanctioned by the WBSC.
The tournament featured two National Teams: the hosts, and world No. 28, Hong Kong and world No. 29 Russia. The other three participants were club teams: Singapore Merrkats, Hong Kong Blue and Da-Ho Baseball.
The Hong Kong National Team, managed by Paul Corey, won the Baseball Open and Lee Wing Sing was named the tournament MVP.
Hong Kong defeated Singapore Meerkats (18-0), Da-Ho Baseball (17-6), Hong Kong Blue (11-2) and Russia (20-4) to finish with a perfect record.
Da-Ho Baseball finished second, preceding Singapore Meerkats, Hong Kong Blue and Russia.
