SEOUL – World No. 8 South Korea sent five pitchers to the mound to shutout world No. 3 Cuba, 6-0, in the ceremonial first game in the nation’s new Gocheok Sky Dome.

Cuba’s offense was limited to four scattered singles, while South Korea gave an early thrill to the crowd of 14,000 by scoring the stadium’s first-ever runs. The host nation jumped out to a 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning and stung Cuba’s pitchers for 12 total hits.

The two nations are playing two ‘friendlies’ to tune up for the WBSC Premier12 global tournament, where the winner will earn U.S. 1.0 million in prize money.

South Korea will open their Premier12 against top-ranked Japan at the Sapporo Dome on Sunday, while Cuba will take on Canada next Wednesday, Nov. 10th at Taichung Intercontinental Stadium.
