Instituto “Manuel Fajardo” wins inaugural Baseball5 tournament in La Habana

The Instituto Superior de Cultura Fisica ‘Manuel Fajardo’ won the inaugural Baseball5 tournament played in Havana (Cuba). In the tournament game the Instituto ‘Fajardo’ defeated La Universidad de La Habana 6-1. The game was played at a stunning pace and lasted only 14 minutes and 14 seconds. The final out came at the home plate.

Hector Villar, international sport commentator and producer, hosted and commented the event.

Polytechnic José Antonio Echevarria finished in third place, while UCI de la Ciencia Informatica finished fourth.

WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari was in attendance, together with WBSC Baseball Ambassador, and Cuban native, Antonio Castro and Didier Seminet, the French born President of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB).
Also in attendance were 2 icons of Cuban sport: Carlos Tabares, who won a gold medal in baseball at the 2004 Olympics and played center fielder for the Havana team Industriales, and Yumilka Ruiz, who competed in 4 consecutive Summer Olympics, 1996-2008, in volley ball and won a bronze medal in Athens.
