Italian National Women’s Softball Team heads to Rome for physical testing with 8 months to Tokyo 2020 Olympics

From 4-7 December, the 24 Italian players battling for an Olympic roster spot will undergo tests at Giulio Onesti Olympic Training Center.

Eight months from the first pitch being tossed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the Italian National Women’s Softball Team announced that 24 players will undergo physical tests from 4-7 December at the "Giulio Onesti" Olympic Training Center in Rome.

Representatives of the Italian Institute of Sports Science will be present at the camp and will carry out some physical tests on the players.

The Italian National Softball Team, currently No.10 in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Rankings, swept the WBSC Softball Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier last year to qualify for the Olympics for the third time in the nation's history.

Italy will open their Tokyo 2020 Olympics on 21 July 2021 against world No. 1 USA. The game will be played at Fukushima Stadium, at noon (Japan time).

The preliminary Italian player roster can be found at the Federazione Italiana Baseball Softball (FIBS) website.
