Italy, Czech Republic junior national softball teams to tune up together outside Milan

The 25-game, WBSC-sanctioned series will feature both countries’ U-15 and U-18 national teams. The games will be held in Bollate, Legnano, Caronno and Saronno, Italy.

From 24-27 August, the Italian Baseball Softball Federation (FIBS) will host the Summer Softball Challenge, a four-day series of international friendlies featuring the U-15 and U-18 national teams from No. 10 Italy and No. 12 Czech Republic, plus four local club teams. The WBSC-sanctioned event will be played in the cities of Bollate, Legnano, Caronno and Saronno, just outside Milan.

Italy has named its staff and rosters for the event. The U-18 national team will be steered by Andrea Longagnani, while Giulio Brusa will be the skipper of the U-15 squad. The rosters of the Italian teams for the Summer Softball Challenge can be found here.

The U-15 Czech national team held a training camp on 25-26 July, with 38 players.

Italy and Czech Republic had been slated to represent Europe in the inaugural WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup this year in Lima, Peru, but the event had to be postponed to 2021 due to the outbreak of coronavirus. New dates are still to be confirmed.
