Italy, USA Olympic Softball Teams to face off in Florida on 21 April

Due to travel delays last week, the previously announced four-game series between USA and Italy has been changed to a solo contest with today’s game being the first competition of the month for the Red, White and Blue.

World No. 1 USA and No. 10 Italy today (Wednesday 21 April) will meet in an Olympic warm-up game at 5 p.m. ET at the Space Coast Complex in Florida.

Due to travel delays last week, the previously announced four-game series between USA and Italy has been changed to a solo contest with today’s game being the first competition of the month for the Red, White and Blue. Fans will be allowed to attend today’s game at a limited capacity with social distancing encouraged while inside the ballpark. Fans around the world can follow the live stats of the game here.

Italy and USA will meet to open their Olympic softball tournaments on 21 July at Fukushima Azuma Stadium, following the Olympic opener between Australia and Japan, which will be first official Tokyo 2020 competition.

USA’s 18-player roster will be without Rachel Garcia, Dejah Mulipola and Bubba Nickles, who remain with their respective collegiate teams.

The Italian Women’s National Softball team arrived in Florida this week, and will stay in Vero Beach until 24 April 24. Then the Azzurre squad travels west to the CenturyLink Sports Complex in Fort Myers to play a pair of doubleheaders against Canada on 25 and 26 April.
