The league has rebounded from the pandemic with 11 teams set to participate this season, up from 6 in 2020.

The Italian Baseball for the Blind League (LIBCI) is set to open the 2021 season on Saturday, 6 June.

The league has rebounded from a 2020-shortened season, which cut the league to six teams. This year, the league features 11 teams that will be split into two groups:

Group A: Fiorentina, Leonessa Brescia, Patrini Malnate, Staranzano, Milan Thunder's Five, Thurpos Cagliari.

Group B: Blind Fighters Florence, Fortitudo Bologna White Sox, Lampi Milano, Tigers Cagliari, Umbria Redskins.

The format is the single round-robin. Each game will be played over nine innings.

Five teams -- the top three finishers in Group A and first- and second place teams in Group B -- will directly advance to the quarter-finals. The other three playoff teams will be decided after a play-in on 5 September.

The quarter-finals are scheduled for 12 September, the semifinals for 25 September. The championship game is scheduled for 2 October at the Leoni stadium in Bologna.

The Italian Association Baseball for the Blind (AIBxC) is a WBSC Associate Member.
