Japan wins 2017 East Asia Women’s Softball Cup

HIROSAKI CITY, Japan — Facing off against Chinese Taipei, Japan easily won 8-0 in the championship game to finish with an undefeated 5-0 record. 2008 Beijing Olympic hero Yukiko Ueno teamed up with Yamato Fujita in the pitching circle for the shut-out victory.

HIROSAKI CITY, Japan — The Women’s Softball National Team of Japan successfully defended their title at the 6th East Asia Women’s Softball Cup at the Hirosaki City Sports Park ballpark in Aomori Prefecture.

Facing off against Chinese Taipei, Japan easily won 8-0 in the championship game to finish with an undefeated 5-0 record. 2008 Beijing Olympic hero Yukiko Ueno teamed up with Yamato Fujita in the pitching circle for the shut-out victory.

Korea defeated China 10-3 in the 3rd place match.

The East Asian Cup is an annual 4-team women’s event between China, Chinese Taipei, Japan and Korea with the host location set on rotational basis.
