Japan Women’s Softball League set to crown a champion this weekend

From 7-8 November, the top five teams of the JSL regular season will compete in the playoffs in Nagoya, Japan. Fans will be allowed in the stands, with stadium capacity limited to 50%.

The top five regular-season finishers of the 53rd Japanese Women’s Softball League (JSL) will play the 2020 JSL Championship Tournament to define the 2020 Japanese champion this weekend at Paloma Mizuho Baseball Stadium. Many elite national-team players are featured on the five teams, including USA Softball's Monica Abbott, Ally Carda and Jailyn Ford; Japanese legend Yukiko Ueno and Mexican fireballer Dallas Escobedo.

All five teams will be on the field on Saturday, 7 November, in the first of two days of playoffs. The first game will feature fourth-seed Shinning Vega and fifth-seed Denso Bright Pegasus in a winner-take-all game at 10 a.m. (local time).

At 12:30 p.m., top seeds Toyota Red Terriers and Bic Camera Bee Queen will meet in the semifinal, with the winner advancing to Sunday's final and the loser playing in the second semifinal.

The third and final game on Saturday will be played by third-seeded Honda Reverta and the winner of the Shinning Vega and Denso playoff opener. The winner will advance to the second semifinal on Sunday. The championship game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
