Japan's Yamato Fujita named Tokyo 2020 softball MVP as All-Olympic team revealed

Japan's Minori Naito was named the best defensive player. The Tokyo 2020 All-Olympic Team includes four players from the US, three from Canada, two from Japan and Mexico, one from Italy.

The Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee and the WBSC jointly announced the first-ever All-Olympic Softball Team and Individual Awards.

Monica Abbott of the United States was named best left-handed pitcher, while Yukiko Ueno (Japan) was named best right-handed pitcher.

The best catcher award went to Kaleigh Rafter (Canada). Her teammate Jenn Salling was named the best at first base.

The All-Olympic team infield is completed by Ali Aguilar (second base, USA), Yu Yamamoto (third base, Japan) and Anissa Urtez (shortstop, Mexico).

The All-Olympic outfield members are Laura Vigna (left, Italy), Haylie McCleney (center, USA) and Suzannah Brookshire (right, Mexico). Amanda Chichester (USA) was named the best designated player.

Minori Naito, who played first base for Japan without making an error, earned the best defensive player's honours.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP), the main individual award, went to Yamato Fujita (Japan). She appeared in all games, going 7 for 18, .389 batting average, with 3 home runs and pitched 8 innings allowing only 2 runs.
