Jiangsu’s dominance in the national championship began in 2010. Last year, the final game between Jiangsu and Sichuan was decided in extra innings, with a 8-7, walk-off win. This year’s final between these two teams ended very differently.
Jiangsu dominated the game from the beginning, with Chen Jia smashing a leadoff homer off of Chai Yinan. Jiangsu catcher Xi Kailin added a two-run home run that set the tone for the 16-0 victory. Winning pitcher Wang Lan was the author of the shutout performance.
China is ranked No. 7 in the WBSC Women's Softball World Rankings.
