Korea Series: Samsung Lions win 2012 Korean Championship

The Samsung Lions have won the championship in Korea Baseball Organization. They clinched their fifth title in club history and their second in a row with a 7-0 shutout over the SK Wyverns on Friday. They won the Korea Series 4-2.

Won Sam Jang led the way in the decisive sixth match of the best-of-seven series, allowing just one hit in seven scoreless innings. Six runs in the fourth gave the Lions a commanding lead en route to the victory.

The Lions built a quick 2-0 lead in the Korea Series, winning the first two games. A rainout helped the SK Wyverns to regroup and they were able to even the series in the next two games. Samsung won regained the lead with a 2-1 nail-biter in game five and laid the groundwork for the title.
