Baseball5 European Championship: Lithuania, France qualify for Baseball5 World Cup

The Baseball5 European Championship is the first continental Baseball5 championship and therefore, the first qualifier for the inaugural Baseball5 World Cup.

France and hosts Lithuania are the first National Teams to qualify for the first-ever WBSC Baseball5 World Cup, to be staged in Mexico in December after winning their Baseball5 European Championship semifinals against Italy and Russia respectively on Saturday.

With two tickets to the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup on offer, the Baseball5 European Championship finalists have the honour of packing their bags for Mexico.

The European Championship game is scheduled at noon local time (GMT plus two hours) in Vilnius.

Lithuania qualified with a 4-2 record after group play, then needed just two games in the three-game elimination series to beat the Netherlands and Russia. Russia had entered the semifinal undefeated.

France suffered just one loss in group play and outscored Belarus in the quarter finals. They won the semifinal series against undefeated Italy.
