Seoul (Korea). Thanks to another rainy day at the IBAF XXV 18U Baseball World Championship on Tuesday some schedule juggling was necessary by the Technical Commission of the International Baseball Federation and the organizers of the tournament. Additionally the schedule for the second round and the classification round for the places 7th to 12th were announced, which starts on Wednesday.

In the morning in Game #5 Panama will face Canada at Mokdong Stadium and in Game #6 USA takes on Australia at Jamsil, trying to make up two of the four rainouts on Tuesday. Both games are scheduled to start at 10:30am. These two games are necessary to determine the last two participants of the second round. The winner of Panama vs. Canada will be in the second round. In the second matchup Australia’s and Colombia’s fate will be decided. If the team from Down Under prevails against the United States they will advance, otherwise Colombia moves up.

Overall the top three teams each from Group A and B will advance to the second round, trying to reach the Gold Medal Game after another round robin. Korea and the United States from Group A and Japan and Chinese Taipei from Group B are already qualified for the second round.

The games Chinese Taipei vs. Italy and Netherlands vs. Korea, which were rained out on Tuesday afternoon will be cancelled and won’t be made up.

When the first round is finished with Wednesday’s morning games, the second round will start in the afternoon. Korea will square off with Chinese Taipei at 2pm at Jamsil Stadium (home team determined following the completion of the first round). At Mokdong Stadium Japan will either face Colombia (2pm if USA wins Game #6) or Australia (5pm if Australia wins Game #6).

In the evening Panama or Canada (based on outcome of Game #5) will open the second round at Jamsil Stadium against the United States at 6:30pm (home team to be determined).

Additionally the first of three classification games will be played on Wednesday, when the Czech Republic (home based on coin flip) and the Netherlands play for 11th place in the final standings. This game will start either at 6:30pm or 8:30pm at Mokdong Stadium, pending the outcome of Game #6 in the morning and the consequences to the schedule afterwards.

All the other second round games, starting on Friday will be played at Mokdong Stadium with a detailed schedule see below. The classification games for 9th and 7th place in the final standings will be played on Thursday at 10am respective 2pm local time at Gueui ballpark.

On Tuesday only the games Japan vs. Czech Republic (7-0) and Venezuela vs. Colombia (2-7) were completed following lengthy rain delays.
