Former Dominican Major League All Star Manny Ramirez is leaving the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). His team, the EDA Rhinos, confirmed in a press release on Tuesday that they have removed him from the roster and that he will leave Taiwan on June 21.

According to media reports the 41-year-old outfielder wishes to be closer to his family, although other reports say Japanese teams have interest in his services.

Ramirez was batting .352 (OBP .422/SLG .555) with eight home runs and 43 RBI in 49 games for the Khaohsiung based CPBL organization.

In Major League Baseball he had a career batting average of .312 with 555 home runs in 19 seasons with the Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays.
