Matyas Novotny pitches complete game shutout against France, gives Czechia first Placement Round win

The right-handed pitcher went the distance, striking out nine while giving up five hits and two walks.

Matyas Novotny pitched Czechia to their first win of the tournament with a seven-inning masterpiece, leading his team to a 4-0 victory against France to open the Placement Round of the V WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup. 

The right-handed pitcher went the distance, striking out nine while giving up five hits and two walks.

Czechia took the lead in the second inning with RBI singles by Krystof Martinek and Max Predja. They added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh, on a pair of wild pitches.

Mathis Bausset pitched six quality innings, allowing three hits, three runs and two walks.  

Czechia is now 1-0 in the 10th-13th Placement Round, while France is 0-1.
