Media accreditation now open for WBSC Baseball Europe/Africa Olympic qualifier in Bologna and Parma, Italy

Media registration is now open for the WBSC Baseball Europe/Africa Qualifying Event for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020, which is scheduled for 18-22 September in the Italian cities of Bologna and Parma.

Media registration is now open for the WBSC Baseball Europe/Africa Qualifying Event for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020, which is scheduled for 18-22 September in the Italian cities of Bologna and Parma. The winner of this competition will earn the second of six available slots into the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Baseball event, where the National Team of host Japan is automatically qualified.

All members of the media, both local/national and international, who intend to cover the WBSC Baseball Europe/Africa Qualifier must apply through the official WBSC Media Accreditation online platform at my.wbsc.org/mediareq/index.

NOTE: Media registration for this event closes on Tuesday, 10 September.

Media credentials will be distributed at the pre-event press conferences. Media will be required to designate a pick-up location. All times local.

BOLOGNA

  • WHEN:  Monday, 16 September at 1 pm 
  • WHERE: Cappella Farnese, Bologna, located in Piazza Maggiore 6, in the heart of the historical centre.

 PARMA

  • WHEN: Tuesday, 17 September at 5 pm
  • WHERE: Parma City Council Hall, located in Piazza Garibaldi, in the city centre. 

Media credentials will also be available for pick-up at the ticket offices of Bologna’s Gianni Falchi Stadium and Parma’s Nino Cavalli Stadium during the event.

The Tournament

The WBSC Baseball Europe/Africa Qualifier is a six-team tournament, including the South African National Baseball Team and the Top 5 nations from the upcoming European Baseball Championship that will be played in Bonn, Germany, from 7-15 September.

GUIDELINES FOR NON-RIGHTS HOLDERS (“NRH”)

Coverage by Non-Rights Holder TV/RADIO and Crew

Only rights holders of applicable games may transmit game footage (audio and/or video) of WBSC Events. During games, NRHs are not permitted to record either audio or video in the stadium, or conduct live commentary. Failure to respect these guidelines will result in an immediate withdrawal of media accreditation, potential legal action and blacklisting, in order to protect WBSC’s partners and rights-holder agreements.

NRH media will be given access to official training sessions, pre/post-game sessions, player and manager interviews, mixed zones and all related press conferences. NRH cameras must be turned off and/or stored during games.

Credentials will be granted by specific category (i.e., Press, Photographer, Radio and TV), and access will be granted accordingly.

Photographers and NRH TV crews will be required to wear colour-coded vests.

Media will have access to the press centre and/or designated press/photographer zones located in the stadium.
