Media Accreditation now open for WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Qualifier in Shanghai, China

Media registration for the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Olympic Qualification, taking place 24-28 September in Shanghai, China, is now available and will remain open until Tuesday, 17 September.

Media registration for the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Olympic Qualifier, taking place 24-28 September in Shanghai, China, is now available and will remain open until Tuesday, 17 September.

All members of the media, both local/national and international, who intend to cover the Softball Asia/Oceania qualification event for Tokyo 2020 must apply through the official WBSC Media Accreditation online platform at my.wbsc.org.

Media credentials will be distributed at the pre-tournament press conference and thereafter at the Shanghai Chongming Sports Training Center, from 24 September.

A total of 8 teams will participate at the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Qualifier, including the top six teams from Asia (not counting Japan, already qualified to Tokyo 2020 as host team), and the best two teams from Oceania. The participants were drawn into two groups:

Group A: No. 8 China, No. 11 New Zealand, No. 13 Philippines, No. 23 Korea.

Group B: No. 6 Chinese Taipei, No. 7 Australia, No. 37 Indonesia, No. 42 Hong Kong.

The round robin will be played from 24-26 September. The top two teams in each group will advance to the Super Round (28-29 September). The top squad in the final standings will gain the last available spot for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

Coverage by Non-Rights Holder TV/RADIO and Crew

Only rights holders of applicable games may transmit game footage (audio and/or video) of the WBSC events. During games, NRHs are not permitted to record either audio or video in the stadium or conduct live commentary. Failure to respect these guidelines will result in an immediate withdrawal of media accreditation, potential legal action and blacklisting, in order to protect WBSC’s partners and rights-holder agreements.

NRH media will be given access to official training sessions, pre/post-game sessions, mixed zones, press conferences and Opening/Closing Ceremonies. NRH cameras must be turned off and/or stored during games.

Credentials will be granted by specific category (i.e., Press, Photographer, Radio, TV), and access will be granted accordingly.

Photographers and NRH TV crews will be required to wear bibs.
