Mexico 10-1 USA: Ramirez red hot form makes for impressive Mexican win

After a slow first innings, Mexico never looked back and bagged their first win over the USA.

After a slow first frame, Mexico never looked back and bagged their first win over the USA, 10-1, at the U-18 Softball Men’s World Cup in Palmerston North, New Zealand.

Eli Rivas put the USA side on the board first off a wild pitch. But Mexico turned things around in the 2nd inning courtesy of RBI triples from Khristian Ramirez and Jose Soto, hitting to the right, before Jesus Hurtado hit a single RBI to give Mexico the 3-1 lead.

In the 3rd, Ramirez continued to lead Mexico with yet another single off his bat. Abelardo Penuelas, Francisco Encinas and Josue Martinez contributed to their cause in the bottom of the 4th as Mexico scored 5 straight markers to finish the match.

Fernando Lopez led the way for Mexico, pitching in 5 innings for 2 hits and a run with 5 strikeouts. Joshua Eurich, on the USA side, pitched 4 innings (17 H, 10 R, 0 SO).
